We all have unused clothing that have been aging quietly at the back of our closets, or inside boxes that we haven’t opened since time immemorial. Bring them all out, and choose plain flats that you would like to turn into your new colorful, funky shoes.

Materials:

Shoes (plain flats)

Colorful old clothes

Mod Podge (water base sealer/glue), or you can use a hot glue.

Paint Brush

Strip of satin, or cloth to decorate the edges of the shoe.

Beads, bow for decorating the shoe.

Cut identical square shaped pieces of colorful cloth from the old t-shirts, or clothing of choice. The size of the cloth should be long enough to cover the shoes, but make sure that there is a bit of excess to make the cloth reach the curved edge of the shoes, and secure underneath. You can choose to have a color pattern (pink, blue, pink, blue), or place them randomly as you go. Ensure that you have enough cloth to cover both shoes.

Take one square shaped cloth, and fold the edges to make it smooth. The width of the square will be dependent on you. Ideally, a one inch width would be good to showcase the different colored cloths. Glue the folded edges. Once you have decided where to place the smooth edged square cloth, spread glue using the paint brush on the shoe surface. Stick the cloth on the surface, and cover is with glue again. Repeat the same process until the whole shoe has been completely covered in colorful cloth.

Now put the strip of satin, or cloth on the edges of the shoe for cover the edges. Also you can use some of the beads, or bow for decorating the shoe.

You now have turned your plain, dull flats into colorful, patterned ones!
